The Keene Country Club will celebrate its 120th Anniversary with an evening of dancing and delicious food on Friday, November 17th. The event will take place in the ballroom and will feature Club Soda, a favorite local band. Cocktails and dinner begin at 6:30 and dancing will commence from 8pm to 11pm. All are invited!
“We are looking forward to celebrating the history of the club,” says Keene Country Club General Manager, Dan Dodge.
The Keene Country Club clubhouse was completed in 1897 at a cost of $314.60. This was at a time when an estimated 15,000 people played golf in the entire United States. Supplies were hard to come by, and the price for such supplies was substantial. The golf course had six holes, and there were about 100 members to start.
Now, in 2017, The Club has over 200 members, an 18-hole golf course, tennis and pickleball courts and swimming pool, a full public restaurant and event spaces that accommodate hundreds of people. The culture is still very much centered around social interaction, and it’s a highly treasured gathering place for all of the Monadnock Region.
